Ricco scores again on his SCOTT Addict!
July 13, 2008: One of the most glorious pages in SAUNIER DUVAL-SCOTT
history has just been written. Today, Riccardo Riccò and his squad were
the main characters in the most spectacular race so far in this year´s
Tour de France. Reaping the benefits of the red birds´ great teamwork,
"La Cobra" won stage 9, the first in the Pyrenees (and a very long one)
from Toulouse to Bagnères de Bigorre over 224 kilometres, while SAUNIER
DUVAL-SCOTT leads the teams classification (climbing to third overall)
and David de la Fuente kept the KOM jersey (11 points ahead of Riccò
himself and with just one rider, Gerolsteiner´s Sebastian Lang in
between). In an amazing display of strength and willpower, Riccò
attacked alone on the Col d´Aspin (Category 1 - 26 kilometres from the
finish), in the process reeling in a number of riders, including the
lone leader Lang, before thundering down the descent to maintain his
1´17" advantage over the depleted main bunch, some thirty riders which
included "red birds" Piepoli, Cobo and De la Fuente. With his fantastic
performance, Ricco jumped back onto the list of GC contenders, still
headed by Kim Kirchen (Columbia). Riccò is now in 21st, at 2´35". This
is his second victory in this year’s Tour, his eleventh triumph in his
third season as a pro, and the team’s eighth victory this year. Netti Atom is proud to announce that we are now the Australian distributors for Fox Racing Shox
